If any social entrepreneur out there is looking for a mentor, they can get one free through the Human Lending Library. (Full disclosure - I work for the charity that runs it, Expert Impact). We have more than 50 mentors (our Experts), all of whom have started and scaled successful businesses, many of which will be familiar to you all. The founders of Carphone Warehouse, The White Company, Pret-a-Manger and Mumsnet, to name just a few, are among them. Pre-lockdown, mentors and mentees would meet in person in one of four locations but geography is irrelevant currently as everything is happening via Zoom. Mentoring occurs ANYTIME we speak openly with other people, sometimes we don't realise 'at the time' just how much impact every conversation builds our own skills should never be underestimated, it then becomes our responsibility to take action and demonstrate the empathy to openly share our learnings with others should THEY be open to it.
There's a lot of truth in the adage 'if you want something done well, do it yourself' and let's face it Napoléon Bonaparte who this saying is attributed to did achieve a lot! Social Entrepreneurs clearly need to be multi-talented polymaths with unlimited energy but perhaps without the Napeoléonic megalomaniac traits. They do need help. The trouble is finding just the right help at the right time. When Odysseus set off to fight the Trojan wars he needed a trusted person to look after his son Telemachus, preparing him for his own odyssey. Finding the right mentor and guide is tricky and there can be so much advice coming in to entrepreneurs and especial social entrepreneurs it can be overwhelming. This is why the Social Entrepreneurship Incubation Programme offers bespoke 1:1 support and a range of mentors who have together a vast range of skills and experience. In this article the important attributes of a mentor are discussed and all available right here at SEIP. What are the views out there on how mentoring can be provided and to maximum effect in the current COVID-19 context.......?

I agree with you @Dean Sprague !
